<br>In this unit we will see how to register in the eTwinning directory, as well as the use of a virtual platform called 'eTwinning desktop'. We will learn about the tools this platform offers, including the ecnounter with other European colleagues, partner search and project management (although this will be done in Unit 4). In this unit you will have to choose between following the course the real way (registering in the eTwinning platform) or the fictitious way (by registering in the practice platform). Read carefully, which includes the advantages and disadvantages of both options&nbsp;and, if&nbsp;you have&nbsp;any doubts, check with your tutor before deciding. In any case, remember you can only use the real option if you have reached this unit before November 5th.

Dentro de esta unidad abordaremos cómo realizar el registro en el directorio de eTwinning, así como la utilización de una plataforma virtual llamada "Escritorio de eTwinning". Aprenderemos las herramientas que dicha plataforma ofrece, incluyendo el encuentro con otros compañeros europeos, la búsqueda de socios y la gestión de proyectos (aunque esto último lo haremos en la Unidad 4). En esta unidad deberás decidir entre seguir el curso por la vía real (inscribiéndote en la plataforma eTwinning) o la ficticia (inscribiéndote en la plataforma de prácticas). Lee atentamente el documento que se incluye sobre las ventajas e inconvenientes de ambas opciones y, si tienes dudas, consulta con tu tutor antes de decidir. En todo caso, recuerda que sólo podrás optar por la vía real si has llegado a esta unidad antes del 5 de noviembre.

Unit 3. Registration and desktop.


In this unit we will see how to register in the eTwinning directory, as well as the use of a virtual platform called 'eTwinning desktop'. We will learn about the tools this platform offers, including the ecnounter with other European colleagues, partner search and project management (although this will be done in Unit 4). In this unit you will have to choose between following the course the real way (registering in the eTwinning platform) or the fictitious way (by registering in the practice platform). Read carefully, which includes the advantages and disadvantages of both options and, if you have any doubts, check with your tutor before deciding. In any case, remember you can only use the real option if you have reached this unit before November 5th.

The tutorials that are found here refer to the real platform. However, the practice one is identical.

The steps we have followed to carry out a collaborative project with eTwinning are the following:

  • Register in the eTwinning directory.
  • Find a partner whose profile and expectations are similar to ours.
  • Agree on a collaborative work project with our partner.
  • Register in the project.

This platform, the Desktop, will allow us to carry out several tasks:

  • One of the objectives is to find teachers we can associate with, so we will be provided with search and communication tools with other European teachers.
  • Other functions of the eTwinning desktop managing our profile, that is to say, change those data we used when registering or add some new ones (our photo, a change of centre, changes in the project expectations, etc.)
  • One last activity we would like to mention in the eTwinning Desktop is the chance to manage the projects wehave registered in. We can access the data for each project we are working on, as well as other virtual platforms for each project. Here are the documents you will find in this unit:
    1. Documentos 3.a: Opción real - Opción de prácticas: Algunas indicaciones que te pueden ayudar a decidir sobre qué opción elegir.
    2. Documentos 3.b: Registro: Instrucciones detalladas sobre cómo registrarte en eTwinning.
    3. Documentos 3.c: Escritorio: Tutorial sobre el manejo de las herramientas del escritorio
    4. Documentos 3.d: Preguntas Frecuentes: Respuestas a algunas de las preguntas que habitualmente surgen sobre el proceso de registro y el manejo del escritorio.
